Justin has been singing and performing almost his whole life! Justin’s first stage performance was at the age of seven at the local Country Opry Show, and he continued singing and working in local bands until he went to South Plains College to study music and composition. After a couple of years of study, Justin headed to Nashville where he explored the music scene and kept honing his skills of performing and writing, while looking for that major label break. But even though he had some success, he didn’t break into the big time and then headed back to Texas and in 2009 he joined the Emotions. He has written and recorded some great songs that will be released in the Spring of 2015. Justin is a great vocalist who brings his soulful style to the stage every night. He has the ability to take the crowd on a musical adventure with him each and every night he fronts the band.

Nathan Hanna
Accompanying the marks of a multi-instrumentalist, there is likely a diverse background of musical evolution. Not many people can truthfully claim that they are an accomplished guitarist, bassist (including upright bass), drummer, mandolin player, banjo picker (tenor, plectrum, and 5-string), ukulele strummer, and most proudly a song-writer. However, while he has the ability to make those claims honestly, he would rather you find out for yourself.
Having spent endless hours upon hours of honing in his craft since starting at the age of seven, Nathan Hanna has developed into one of the most well-rounded musicians on the scene today. His natural artistry has developed into the mastery at his unique approach to Rock, Country, Pop, R&B, Jazz, and even Classical Music. Nathan’s guitar playing breathes life through the idea that all music has the ability to simultaneously inspire new creation and satisfy the soul; but he communicates that idea through the simplicity and beauty of grabbing your heart with a handful of notes and a powerful touch.
Nathan has recently appeared as the primary musician and song arranger for Texas artist Mason Lively, on his album “Stronger Ties”. He has shared the stage with popular artists such as Old Dominion or Roger Creager and has written songs for the French pop-rock band Two Trains Left. Not many people can come to par with such an extreme drive for great music rooted at the heart quite like Nathan Hanna; but he doesn’t have to tell you, just listen to his fingers work.

Oscar was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela and came to the Houston, Texas in 2009. Oscar influences from Latin Music, Rock, Pop and Country all meld together to create one of the smoothest bass players around.

A humble bass guitarist is usually an underappreciated beast, but Oscar knows just how to build a platform for the rest of the band to show off their virtuosity. Oscar brings the heart and soul to the band with his solid groove on top of the drums.

Oscar also plays keyboards and guitar and brings his sense of style to every type of music he plays. Oscar played in several bands in Houston and joined the Emotions in 2012.

If you have a good drummer you have a good band, and if you have a GREAT drummer you have a GREAT band.  Austin is a GREAT drummer, and greatness requires talent and dedication. Born into a musical family, Austin has been a drummer his whole life.

Drums have a huge effect on the “feel”, “groove” and EMOTIONS of a song, and Austin, through his love of music, always finds the right answer for the songs he is playing, from country to rock, and everything in between.

Calvin Drozd has been with the Emotions since 1989!!! Before that Calvin played with the System, High Risk and the Visions. Calvin has played with David Kersh and has opened for dozens of artists: Brooks and Dunn, Brian White, Steve Wariner, Colin Raye, Restless Heart and practically every Texas artist including, Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green, Randy Rogers, Cody Johnson and the list goes on and on. When performing, Calvin usually stands at the back of the stage while everyone is out front skillfully playing and singing in front of him. Yes Calvin is a keyboardist, and a great keyboardist, who also plays saxophone, however his experience in the music business is by far his greatest asset to the Emotions. He has been the tour manager for 25 years and counting!

Pete is the behind scenes man that makes all the magic happen on the sound board.
Pete is the backbone of the band, keeping The Emotions sounding their best.
